Inspired by the act of collage, a process where one decisively slices away potential futures with each cut.
In this instance, in order to render a tiger’s mouth, I had cut the “head” off of a scrap of red paper which, to me, resembled a bird.
Abstracting creature into color, I mourned the loss of any collages that could have featured the bird.
But I held firm in my willingness to destroy for the sake of a particular vision.
